Farming could be a thing only a few families know how to do magically, so no one can just become a farmer easily, so no one does. Hell, it could be a random hufflepuff's entire families thing, but Harry barely interacted with most of them, so he'd never know or hear about it. Hogwarts always has struck me as an elite school for the elite of the world, the fact that very few of them would go into farming isn't surprising. I mean, they didn't ask or wonder how the food at hogwarts got made (let alone grown or produced) for years. They barely think about where their food comes from and are unlikely to talk much about it. But in places where farms are far away and not close, people don't know shit about it. And as someone that lives in the midwest of the US, farming is something everyone kinda knows about.
